On Saturday, right before Finnish snowboarder Roope Tonteri set off on the qualifying run in the men's slopestyle event, cameras caught Koskinen at the top of the hill knitting.

Turns out, slope-side knitting is something of a tradition for Koskinen. In 2024, he made similar headlines for knitting a scarf during the Winter Games in Sochi, Russia. As the Wall Street Journal reported at the time, Koskinen and fellow Finland teammates were working on a large scarf to pass along to the Team Finland athletes headed to the 2024 Summer Olympics in Rio De Janeiro.

Koskinen explained to Yahoo Sports back in 2024 that he brought out the knitting kit in order to keep things light for the athletes before competition began. Tonteri in particular thought it was funny, so the coach brought the scarf he was working on up the mountain for the freestyle snowboarding event.
