影片根据曼罗·里夫1936年经典童书《爱花的牛》改编，讲述西班牙一头名为费迪南的公牛的爆笑历险故事。费迪南体型健壮，但却心地善良性格温和，它在小时候意外逃出公牛养殖场，在鸟语花香、充满爱的环境中长大，但因不慎在鲜花节上闯祸，被误认为是危险的野兽，从而被抓回养殖场，被逼做一只斗牛。为回到家人身边，他不得不踏上了一场终极冒险旅程……

Ferdinand: That's just it. No bull wins. Ever. I was in Moreno's house, I saw it.
Angus: Jings! Crivens! And help ma boab!
Ferdinand: And there's a lot more where that came from. A lot more.
Bones: There's really no way to win?
Ferdinand: You get to fight in a big fancy arena...but I'm telling you, it's just another chop house.

Valiente: Why would I believe a coward...who thinks the only way out is through the back door?
Ferdinand: Are you crazy? Did you not hear what I said?
Valiente: Bulls fight or they go down. That's how the world works.
